The most common question we get is "How do I book accommodation if I'm attending the conference"? Due to the range of accommodation options available this is never an easy question to answer. However, we have done our best to put together a short summary on the options available to participants below. Please note that all accommodation in Rusutsu books up very fast so please ensure to book early to avoid disappointment.

Rusutsu Resort Hotel and Convention

The North/ South wing of Rusutsu Resort is incredible and is our pick when we stay in Rustsu. It is a brilliant resort with large rooms, many activities offered such as the wave pool and Onsen, plenty of dining options, is truly ski in/ ski out and is the same location as the conference! Rusutsu Resort, Travel Lodge

The Travel lodge is part of Rusutsu Resort and guests have access to all resort facilities. The lodge has a number of different room configuration and although dated, offers excellent value for money. Due to the excellent nightly rates it does fill up quickly so please ensure to book early. Pensions

Pensions are a great cheap option whilst travelling around Japan with the closest western comparison being that they are like really clean family run backpackers! Most pensions in the Rusutsu area are fairly large with options of single, twin or quadruple share rooms with private ensuite's and common communal spaces where delicious homemade meals are served on a daily basis. Pensions are excellent value for money with many offering free shuttle bus services (or even car hire at no charge) if they are not walking distance to Rusutsu.

Our advice is to book your room early as pensions in close proximity to Rusutsu are sure to fill up fast!

Houses

One limitation of Rusutsu is that there are not many houses available to hire for large groups. The houses that are available to hire are absolutely incredible and just a short walk to the resort.  In order to secure a house you will need to get in quick through contacting tomoe@skijapn.com or doing a wider search for "Rusutsu Houses" through google.

Further Afield?

Each year we are always amazed by the accommodation options and deals people find. If you want to keep your options open for where to board during the day or looking to save a considerable amount of money we recommend looking further afield to towns within a 30km radius of Rusutsu. Lots of accommodation in Hokkaido comes with free car hire or if you are staying in larger towns there are some public busses which do multiple trips a day to Rusutsu Resort (however don't forget to  check the timetable before booking to ensure buses running into the evening!)

The Westin Rusutsu Resort

The Westin Rusutsu Resort has recently been awarded Japan's Best Ski Hotel and it lives up to all expectations! Each room is spread over two levels with striking views over Rusutsu's slopes. It is located on the opposite side of the road to the North/South wing and the conference room can be accessed via a five minute monorail ride. The Westin rooms do come with a higher price tag however those looking for a luxurious hotel to stay whilst away will not be disappointed.
